I cannot say enough good things about the guys at Burt Brothers, and in particular Tom, at the Park City location. He has been very good over the years from my perspective…he is a consummate professional! Thanks again!

Burt Brothers made me a Jazz player for a day!
They made sure that my wife, Mary, and I got the full VIP treatment:
- We took a stretch limousine from home to Energy Solutions Arena to play (I mean watch the Jazz play) against the Golden State Warriors.
- Before the game, Kevin O’Connor, Coach Sloan, and I signed a one-day Jazz contract for something only a little less than the NBA rookie minimum.
- Coach Sloan interviewed me about the positions that I could play for the team. I told him that I could shoot the ball, but not as well as Kyle Korver. He told me that nobody shoots as well as Kyle does.
- I hung out with Kyle (eat your hearts out ladies) and the other players during the pre-game shootaround.
- They gave me some great NBA gear.
- I hung my things in a slot in the team’s locker room (you wouldn’t believe how high the shower heads are—I’m talking Mark Eaton territory!).
- There were lots of photographers around, so I have photos with Kyle (we’re on a first-name basis now), this year’s rookie phenom Wes Matthews, Coach Sloan, and others.
- I then watched from the bench (I mean one of the best seats in the house) as my team the Jazz pummeled the Warriors.
- After a good night’s work, Mary and I relaxed during the limo ride home.
The only problem with being a Jazz player for a day is that it was only for a day. I could really get used to living life this way all the time. Maybe next year we’ll get to do it again!
Thanks, Burt Brothers!

EVENT INFORMATION & SCHEDULE

Since our first Car Show in 1998 over 4000 children have received new winter coats, boots and mittens.

Burt Brothers Tires & Service is sponsoring the Bountiful Rotary Club’s 12th Anniversary of “Cruisin’ the Boulevard-Coats for Kids” Car Show again this year. “When an employee said he had seen at least five kids without coats, dropping his kids off at school everyday, we knew we had to support this event,” said owner, Wendel Burt.
The “Coats for Kids” Car Show is the means by which the Bountiful Rotary Club supports their mission of providing for the needs of children in South Davis County.
According to Ron Burt, owner of Burt Brother’s Tires, “We, and other Rotarians, donate all the food, prizes and cover the expenses of the car show so all proceeds can go to keeping kids warm.” “Over 4000 children in the South Davis Area, have been served, with funds from this event, over the past 11 years,” Mr. Burt continued.
Winter of 2007-2008 saw over $17,000 in vouchers redeemed by children in the community for new coats, boots and gloves. Vouchers are distributed to families identified by principals and teachers from local elementary schools. Parents take their children to the local K-Mart store and let them pick the coat of their choice, which is paid for with the voucher.
With the tremendous support of local businesses, including the generosity of sponsors like Burt Brother’s Tires.
How you can support this great event is by registering a cool car or just coming and enjoying the cars, eating lots of food and drinks, participate in the drawings, games and contests, remember all the money raised goes directly to the kids.
Friday Night the Cruisin’ Parade and Street Party begin at 6:00 PM along old Historic Main Street and ends at 10:00 pm. Cars will be displayed along the street and there will be a variety of activities for the whole family, including a Main Street Car Parade at 6:30 PM, lots of good food, a pie eating contest sponsored by Marie Calendar’s, a climbing wall, and live music by the “Go Dog Go” Band. “We thought we’d add a little excitement this year,“ said Ron Burt, “by sponsoring a Tire Burnout contest.” Many Bountiful Main Street merchants will be open for business Friday night with specials just for the evening’s activities.
We invite everyone to come and enjoy this great event on Friday night, June 11, and Saturday June 12, 2010 at the Bountiful City Park . Online registration is at www.bountifulrotary.com or by calling Chris at 292-6141 or John at 856-9897.

New Goodyear Wranglers Grabbing Off-Road Wins From Baja to Wisconsin
When the new Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar was introduced earlier this year, company officials emphasized the rugged toughness and enhanced sidewall puncture resistance of the tire. While the product is primarily intended for off-road enthusiasts who enjoy weekend four-wheeling in mud, sand, rocks and dirt, it also is proving its worth as a race tire.
In the June 20 Mole Lake Casino & Lodge Stock Truck Silver Cup Race at legendary Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, WI, Mitch Dorr drove his Ford F150 to victory on a set of the new Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar tires. With the win, Dorr was crowned the first "Sportsman King of Off-Road Racing," in honor of the 40th anniversary of short course off-road racing in Crandon.
Crandon Raceway is considered the fastest and most punishing off-road race course in the U.S. The course provides a challenge to racers with its rutted track and loose rocks, and Dorr credited his Goodyear tires with carrying him through to the key victory.
In a post-race interview, Dorr said, "It was my first race on the new Goodyear Wranglers with Kevlar. The race was grueling and fast-paced, but the tires looked brand-new at this finish line. The new Goodyear tire delivered me to the checkered flag, and I have tremendous confidence in the brand."
Elsewhere, Goodyear also helped deliver another off-road racer to an important victory in a legendary race.
The reliability of Goodyear Wrangler tires was a key factor in off-road racer Harley Letner's ability to defeat all 266 challengers and capture the overall victory in the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 race held in June in Ensenada, Mexico.
Letner won the Class 1 Unlimited crown during a hard-fought race through the legendary Baja desert in his Goodyear-equipped Chevrolet. Of 267 competitors, 195 finished the 433-mile race, and Letner's winning time was 9 hours, 5 minutes and 47 seconds. He was aided by co-driver Kory Halopoff.
According to Letner, the Goodyear Wranglers gave the team dependability that was vital. "No flats. We really just did a rear tire change when we changed drivers; that was about it," he explained.
Brake trouble on the vehicle did present some anxious moments. The drivers lost brakes at about mile 70, but decided to avoid the time necessary to change the brakes. Instead, they "figured out how to drive it," and dealt with the brake issue for the remainder of the race.
"As the off-road racing season progresses, the Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar will see more competition time. It is the same tire consumers can purchase at Goodyear retailers, and is being used in races because teams are requesting it over other available products due to its aggressive traction and rugged toughness," said Jonathan Lee, Goodyear product manager, light-truck tires.
The Goodyear brand marketing team also has promoted the Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar in Best in the Desert (BITD) racing; at the 2009 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, UT; and at an extensive introduction event held in February in Johnson Valley, CA.
The new tire is available in 30 sizes. Find more information about the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar at www.goodyeartires.com.
